Greens Combustion Supports Poole Town Kids Initiative

Poole company backs community football programme - and keeps its name on the sidelines at Tatnam

Greens Combustion Limited, the Poole-based combustion specialist, has agreed to support the Kids Initiative (KI), Poole Town FC’s community programme.

Founded in 2012 as a start-up, Greens Combustion has grown into a global name in efficient, low-emission combustion technology. Despite its success, the company has remained firmly connected to its hometown. Based in Poole, it is committed to giving back by supporting local activities that reflect its belief that even a modest contribution can goa long way when directed towards worthwhile community projects.

For Managing Director Richard Withnall, an avid Poole Town supporter who follows the Dolphins both home and away, sponsoring the first team would have been the obvious way to reach a wider audience. However, after speaking with Poole Town FC Commercial Manager Ben Edgell, the conversation took a different direction. Ben suggested that Greens Combustion’s contribution would have the greatest impact through the Kids Initiative.

Ben introduced the company to Richard Gale of the KI. Learning about the work carried out by Richard and everyone involved with the Initiative proved humbling and confirmed why the club had chosen to direct the opportunity towards the community rather than retain it solely for the first team.

Launched by Poole Town FC in 2018, the Kids Initiative helps local children experience the fun of football, particularly those facing financial, physical or emotional hardship. Working with schools, local authorities and children’s charities, it provides free coaching and mentoring, kit and equipment, as well as opportunities for children and their families to attend matches.

Greens Combustion’s support will help this important community work continue. At the same time, the company’s name will appear on the sidelines at Tatnam Stadium — a fitting acknowledgement of a local business that has grown in Poole and a Managing Director who has developed a passion for non-league football.
